Aaron – Finding Work With Integrated Training
Aaron, aged 24 from Newcastle, had never been employed since finishing education five years ago. He was referred to Making a Difference by his National Careers Service Adviser, who felt that the in depth appointments would give Aaron the focus he needed to move forward.
Aaron had struggled to find work in the past, all by himself. However, his curiosity paired with the help from his Employment Coach would land him a job with a training at work scheme that, according to Aaron, “changed his life”.
How Did We Help?
From the start, Aaron showed a great interest in improving his CV, learning about interview techniques like “STAR” and developing his skills. Over the course of three months, he developed existing skills and enhanced his CV together with his Employment Coach Olivia.
Aaron reported finding the variety of support from Making a Difference very useful for his needs. He built his confidence in professional face to face interactions, over the telephone or via Microsoft Teams. This meant that whatever the style of a future interview, Aaron would feel prepared and ready to go.
Also, he expressed that he found the advice regarding the construction of his CV equally helpful and soon started training for to gain a L1 qualifications Customer Service with Triage. This was in response to the recommendations made by Making a Difference.
Finding Work That Offers on the Job Training
Over the course of his time with Making a Difference, Aaron not only completed the L1 qualification. He also found work as a Parking Attendant and is really excited to start this new opportunity.
When asked what he found most useful about the process, Aaron expressed that “the site tour with Triage was really helpful to him to gain work experience” and helped him to develop his confidence and skills.
Now, he says he is excited about the future and progressing further in his company. To anyone else thinking of joining Making a Difference, Aaron said “Keep an open mind to the opportunities and advice provided to you!”
