Ezisberta – Changing Careers and Finding Your First IT Job

Ezisberta aged 27 from Leeds was looking to change careers and become a Software Developer. When she joined the Making a Difference programme in October of 2022, she had just completed a skills boot camp in software development with Northcoders and was ready to take the next steps towards finding a job in the IT sector.

From the start, it was clear how passionate and enthusiastic Ezisberta was about finding a role as soon as possible and getting started.

How Did We Help?

During her time on the programme, Ezisberta worked on building both her CV and application letter with her Employment Coach, Jolene. Tailoring your information to every new job is essential when finding work, as employers can have very specific expectations for every role they advertise, and depending on the sector, competition can be tough.

Thus, Ezisberta was extremely organised and tracked all of her progress, so she knew exactly where she was on her journey. Her efforts were rewarded shortly after when she started receiving invitations to several interviews.

Together with Jolene, Ezisberta researched the companies she applied to and prepared for her interviews to ensure she was a good candidate for the position. During this time, Jolene would continue to source any other suitable roles for Ezisberta to avoid her missing out on a potential dream job.

Finding Entry-Level Software Developer Jobs

Pretty soon after attending her interviews, Ezisberta received the news that she had been successful and accepted a full-time role as a Software Developer at a company she reportedly was “very excited to work for”!

Her motivation and dedication to the job search paid off and she finally secured a job in the IT sector. Her Employment Coach Jolene is delighted with her success:

“I’m very happy that Ezisberta has managed to secure employment in such a short period of time, and I feel very lucky that I was assigned as her Employment Coach as I have truly enjoyed seeing Ezisberta start her career in the industry I know she is going to excel in.”

To Jolene and the Making a Difference Team, Ezisberta says:

“This programme was crucial to me changing careers and landing a job in software development, which is a field that I love, am truly excited about and will significantly increase my standard of living.

I had a great experience with Making a Difference, the programme was well structured and Jolene’s friendly and comprehensive and encouraging posture definitely made it an even better experience for me.”
