Gaining independence: Louise’s story

Gaining independence with job searching and applications

Louise, 30 from County Durham, joined the programme in August 2021. She didn’t have a CV and wasn’t sure how to create a cover letter.

She worked with her Employment Coaches to create a CV that was tailored towards cleaning roles, and also a Cover Letter which could be adapted for each job she was applying for. She also received lots of help with job searching, finding opportunities, and submitting applications.

Louise was successful in securing a job interview, and prior to this her Employment Coach helped her with an interview skills session and a practice interview which she said helped her feel more confident when it came to the actual interview.

She was successful at interview and gained a position, noting that the help she received from her coaches helped her find this suitable job. Louise now has a CV and the skills to create tailored Cover Letters, she also knows how to search for jobs independently.

“The coaches I worked with were very understanding and always went at my pace”

“I always felt comfortable contacting my Employment Coach whenever I had a question or wanted to give an update on a job application.”

Louise now has the skills to search and apply for jobs that she may be interested in, in the future.
