Confidence after a career break: Sarah’s story
Confidence after a career break
Sarah, 63, from Horsham, met the Making a Difference team at the Horsham Apprenticeship fair. She was in the process of starting to seek employment after many years of voluntary and project work.
Sarah accessed some of the Making a Difference online workshops on subjects such as interview skills and confidence.
One-to-one support was then given by Employment Coach, Nicola, to tailor applications and to enable Sarah to feel interview ready. It wasn’t long before Sarah was offered an interview and was successful in being offered a part-time role which allowed her to continue to spend time on her other commitments.
Sarah was a pleasure to work with – always keen to take on hints and tips and kept us informed of her progress.
When asked about her experience on the programme Sarah said:
“I am hugely grateful for the help and support you gave me and am sure that is why I now have a job offer! I would be very happy to write a review of this service in the County Times if that would be helpful – I am sure there are many people out there that you could help.
I am so glad I attended that Jobs Fair that day where you had a stand.”
